Activities to Do in Erciyes
Many activities are carried out in Erciyes in the summer and winter seasons.
Year 1972 I lived in Arlberg Lech ski resort in Austria for 10 years. Throughout my life, I developed the German language. I learned ski skiing techniques at ski schools and performance ski gliding techniques on the blue, red and black ski slopes at the altitudes of the alpine mountains, on abundant snow, crusty snow and icy tracks. I received technical training for many years on Alpine ski slopes in Austria, Italy and Switzerland.
I learned a foreign language in Austria, I took the expertise of ski shoes on orthopedic soles to provide skiers with more technical sliding of the in and out pressures of the soles of the feet during skiing. I learned about the concepts of how the ski centers will be formed in the standards of World Countries, European Countries and my own country.
After returning to my country, Turkey, I gained expertise on ski resorts that will not look like alpine mountains in our country, and I gained experience as an instructor on tracks with different snow quality. I would like to state that my city Kayseri and Erciyes Ski Center are of the quality of Alpine tracks. I give ski education and training in Erciyes Ski Center
In many years, I helped my son Mert Değirmenci to join the national ski team at the age of 9 by teaching the techniques of skiing and making technical developments when he was 3 years old. He represented our country abroad and in various countries by carrying the national title in the Turkish Ski Federation for 12 years. I teach skiing by making skiing enthusiasts enjoy skiing education and training.

Blue colored ski slopes;
For moderate skiers, minimum 15%, maximum 35% slope, minimum runway width of 30 m. (A blue track may have green and red portions in certain proportions, and these portions affect the overall average slope.)
Red colored ski slopes;
For good skiers and official competition ski slopes, minimum 35%, maximum 60% slope, the minimum track width (according to FIS criteria) is again 30 m. (Inside a red track, there may be blue and black portions, which affect the overall average slopes.)
Black ski slopes;
Difficult tracks have a minimum slope of 60%, a maximum slope of 100% (ie with a maximum angle of 45 degrees), and the minimum track width is between 40 and 60 m. (The greater the steepness, the greater the width) A black runway can have red portions that affect the overall average slope.
The cable car is the general name given to the suspended vehicle that travels between two distant places, by being tied on one or several steel ropes stretched in the air. Cable cars work with the principle of elevator, but they can rise to very high points from the ground, just like a helicopter, especially at valley crossings. The cable car is set up between difficult-to-reach heights. There are also those that exist over a sea or a strait. The places where the cable cars are installed are the regions that are very difficult or very expensive to reach by land, rail and sea. The cable car established between two certain points in such regions is used for the transmission of people or materials. The cable cars where people are transported consist of passenger cabins suspended on steel ropes.
Chairlift is a small type of cable car that is mostly chair-shaped for those installed in ski centers, and mostly cabin-shaped for those working between camps and settlements. Cabin-shaped ones are called gondolas or telekabins in some countries. In some places, both chairs and cabins can be located on the same line.
Chairlifts are divided into 2 types as fixed and detachable clamps. Fixed-clamp chairlifts are used with a maximum speed of 3 m/s and chairs for 2/4/6 people. Detachable chairlifts with high speed and capacity can be used with 6 mt./sec speed and chairs for 4/6/8 people. The longest chairlift in Turkey is established between the camping areas Sarıalan and Çobankaya in Bursa Uludağ. The length of the line is 3,000 meters. This chairlift consists of both two-person cabins and two-person chairs.
Teleskis, which are designed to be used in ski centers, lift the skiers from the lower point to the upper point by pulling them with the T-Bar (Equipment that provides the pulling task). Teleskis included in the fixed-clamp ropeway group; It is used for short distances in ski resorts. However, teleskis have some drawbacks. Since they carry skiers on the runway without raising them to a certain height like other types of cable cars, there is a high risk of collision between skiers skiing on the piste and skiers on the ski lift. In addition, getting rid of the T-bars at the destination points of the ski lifts requires a special skill. Chairlifts, which do not have such risks and allow skiers to rest during their journey, are more preferred by ski resorts than chairlifts.
There are basically 3 main types of ski profile with high maneuverability, which are common today: Camber (convex) Rocker (collapsed) Flat (flat) We often come across different combinations of these in modern skis.
Camber skis are the most common type of ski since ancient times. When you put the camber (pronounced: kembir) skis on a flat surface, you will see that the nose (front) and tail (back) parts of the skis touch the ground, and the middle part (belly) of the ski under the bindings rises slightly in a convex way. The longer this cambered part of the ski is and the higher the camber, the stronger the ski’s grip when pressure is applied to it. The lower this camber is, the more tolerant and controllable the ski is.
Rocker skis (pronounced rakır), also known as reverse camber. In rocker skis, the nose of the ski (sometimes the tail part) rises earlier than camber skis, and this causes the ground contact point to shift towards the middle of the ski. The shortness of the surface of the ski in contact with the snow ensures that the ski can easily move forward and be easily steered in heavy snow. Rocker skis offer the convenience of turning without applying pressure to the edges. The longer the rocker, the more stable and easy to control the ski. In addition, as the width of the rocker ski increases, their maneuverability also increases. The shorter the rocker, the more grip the ski provides.
Flat (flat in the middle) skis In flat (pronounced: flet) skis, the flat (flat) part is usually located between the nose and tail of the ski. If you put these skis on a flat surface, you will see that there is no gap between the ground and the ski. Usually the middle part (belly) under the bindings is completely flat, while the nose and sometimes the tail of the skis are rocker.

We were looking for an adult ski instructor based on reviews. And Veysel was chosen in advance as the leader of reviews in Erciyes. Although Veysel speaks German and Turkish and the student speaks English, the interaction was good.
I wrote to the inspector late at night. And at 9 am he was already waiting on the mountain.
Cheerful, full of optimism – a firework of positive emotions in a bright yellow suit, the color of happiness.
The lesson was bright, memorable and well structured. We started with a warm-up, then the correct positioning of the legs, the skating technique, the skating elements themselves. An hour later, the training track was already changed to a higher and more difficult one, without a single fall. All the time the teacher encouraged, joked, very motivated and cheered up. I noticed that many on the mountain (instructors, lift staff, guests) greet Veysel, treat him with warmth and respect, and this warmth and cordiality extends to his students. It was a wonderful, useful and full of positive lesson. Yes, this is a great coach!
We would also like to say also about the instructor Salman. Also from Carmen. He teaches both skiing and snowboarding. Speaks a little English. Reliable, caring, professional. In one hour of the lesson, he put the child on skis with confident skiing. Protected from collisions with other skiers on the track (it was very crowded). I saw how some other instructors from Instagram ride children dangerously, not looking at the children, holding the child in front of the hesitant, but racing “slalomists”. Salman is the flint of a student’s safety and security. Great coach! And, what is very important, a Person who can be entrusted with skating a child.
And a few words about the rental point. Many thanks to the super responsible and reliable Vera and Ruslan for solving the issue with the trainers’ time pad, with shoes, for patiently answering a million questions. Thanks to the local guys for their help in the selection of equipment, for the excellent quality of the inventory.

Мы искали инструктора по лыжам для взрослого по отзывам. И заранее выбрали Veysel как лидера отзывов в Эрджиес. Хотя Veysel говорит по немецки и турецки, а ученик по английски – взаимопроникновение было хорошим.
Я написала инспектору уже поздно ночью. А в 9 утра он уже ждал на горе.
Весёлый, полный оптимизма – человек- фейерверк позитивных эмоций в ярком жёлтом костюме цвета счастья.
Урок был яркий, запоминающийся и хорошо структурирован. Начали с разминки, потом правильная постановка ног, техника катания, сами элементы катания . Через час учебную трассу уже сменили на высокую и более сложную, без единого падения. Все время учитель подбадривал , шутил, очень мотивировал и поднимал настроение. Я заметила, что многие на горе ( инструкторы, сотрудники подъемников, гости) здороваются с Veysel , относятся к нему с теплотой и уважением и эта теплота и радушие распространяются и на его учеников. Это был замечательный , полезный и полный позитива урок. Да, это супер- тренер!
Также хотели бы сказать также об инструкторе Салмане. Тоже из Кармен. Он учит и лыжи и сноуборд. Говорит немного по английски. Надёжный, заботливый, профессионал. За один час урока он поставил ребенка на лыжи с уверенным катанием. Оберегал от столкновений с другими лыжниками на трассе ( было очень многолюдно). Я видела как опасно катают детей некоторые другие инструкторы с Инстаграм, не смотря на детей , проводя ребёнка перед носом у неуверенных, но мчащихся “слаломистов” . Салман – это кремень надёжности и безопасности ученика. Отличный тренер! И , что очень важно, Человек, которому можно доверить катание ребёнка.
И пару слов о пункте проката. Огромное спасибо супер ответственным и надёжным Вере и Руслану за решение вопроса с накладкой времени тренеров, с обувью, за терпеливые ответы на миллион вопросов. Спасибо местным ребятам за помощь в подборе оборудования, за отличное качество инвентаря.

We spent 2 unforgettable weeks in Erciyes. Enjoyed skiing. With special gratitude, I want to mention the Carmen rental at Tekir station. Very friendly staff, hospitable, professional, knowledgeable. Russian-speaking Ruslan is very attentive, always helps, explains and shows everything. The guys speak many languages, including Russian, English, German, Arabic. Skis and snowboards are new, boots are good. All equipment is top notch. There is always free hot tea, guests can warm up and relax. Zvezda Carmen – ski teacher Efsane Veysel. Very professional, sociable, kind. In a few hours he taught our children to ride confidently, children perceive him as their own. Veysel, at the end of the lessons, presented the children with medals, which delighted them. Held a whole awards ceremony – this is a memory for a lifetime! It was very soulful. We will gladly return again.

Очень доброжелательный персонал, гостеприимный, профессиональный, знающий свое дело. Русскоговорящий Руслан очень внимателен, всегда помогает, всё объяснит и покажет. Ребята говорят на многих языках, в том числе на русском, английском, немецком, арабском. Лыжи и сноуборды новые, ботинки хорошие. Всё оборудование на высоте. Всегда есть бесплатный горячий чай, гости могут погреться, отдохнуть. Звезда Кармен- преподаватель по лыжам Эфсане Вейсель. Очень высокопрофессиональный, общительный, добрый. За несколько часов научил наших детей уверенно кататься, дети воспринимают его как родного. Вейсель по окончании уроков вручил детям медали, чем привел их в восторг. Провел целую церемонию награждения- это память на всю жизнь! Было очень душевно. С радостью вернемся снова.

Сноуборды с ботинками брали в Кармен, качеством остались очень довольны. Канты наточенные,доски проваксены. Спасибо хозяевам Кармен Вейселю и Ахмеду. Очень порядочные и честные люди,гостеприимные. Вера и Руслан переведут, подскажут, со скидкой помогут. Большое преимущество: один из совладельцев сервиса инструктор с огромным опытом. Без боязни можно доверить ему подготовку и ребенка. Он, собственно говоря, даже не инструктор, а тренер, владеющий методикой подготовки горнолыжника на современном снаряжении. Понятно, и лыжи, и сноуборд в распоряжении.
